Upon receiving your BIOSENSE device, take the time to explore the entire package. Inside your BIOSENSE™ box, you will find the device, a charging cable, a mylar bag, 1 mouthpiece, a Quick Start Guide, and User Manual. Your device will arrive fully charged, and the battery indicator on the device screen will indicate when a charge is necessary. A full charge will generally take up to 2 hours, and the device will typically last up to 5 days before a new charge is needed.
When your device screen displays Blow, inhale as you normally would (no need for a deep breath) and exhale with moderate intensity. Think about blowing large bubbles through a straw into a glass of water. Near the end of your breath, you will feel a long vibration followed by two short vibrations. Continue exhaling until you feel the two short vibrations. This indicates that the device has collected a deep lung sample.
For best results, wait to measure until 60 minutes after eating, smoking/vaping, drinking soda or flavored waters, or consuming items with flavorings like toothpaste, mouthwash, cough drops, breath mints or gum, and artificial sweeteners. After consuming alcohol, wait to test until the following morning.
To reap the full rewards of the BIOSENSE™ device and app, we recommend taking 3-5 ketone measurements per day. This will give you the best insight into your nutritional ketosis journey. Our recommendation is to take measurements throughout the day exploring ACEs pre-meal/fasting, 1-3 hours post-meal, and before and after exercise. Over time you will find the habits and lifestyle choices that keep you in moderate and advanced ketosis.
Once you have opened the app, turn on your BIOSENSE™ device. Pair your device from the app Profile screen and take a measurement. After the initial pairing, the app will automatically pair to your device each time your device is on and the app is open. Make sure that your app is in the foreground so the measurement syncs. In addition, the app is equipped with a manual sync button (upper right corner of the trends screen) that will update unsent measurements when pressed.
With seasonal sickness and heightened sanitation, we would like to address how and where to store your BIOSENSE™. The BIOSENSE™ device has a highly sensitive sensor that detects breath acetone with superior accuracy. This sensor is often affected by hand sanitizer, nail polish remover, and other aromatic solvents. The device will read ‘Try Again,’ which indicates that the sensor is clearing and restarting. It is best to store your device in a temperature-controlled environment away from aromatic solvents.
To preserve the performance of the device it is best to clean it once a week. Remove the mouthpiece from the device before cleaning by gently squeezing its base and pulling it away from the device. Use a cloth and water to clean your mouthpiece. Do not use cleaning wipes that contain alcohol as this can negatively impact device performance.
